PHOENIX — The luxury car brand BMW announced Thursday it would open a full-service car dealership in a Phoenix suburb, according to the Phoenix Business Journal. The complex will be located near Aspera, a mixed-use project that houses an apartment complex and a Mountainside Fitness on the site. The dealership is set to be located near Loop 101 and Union Hills Road and is expected to employ as many as 200 people. "The city of Glendale will benefit more from them being here."The move was cemented on Thursday, after Glendale City Council members voted to sell the 13-acre property to a development company for $2.4 million. The city of Glendale had originally planned to develop a Park-and-Ride lot on the property and paid $2.4 million for the same property a month ago.

The city had planned a park-and-ride for the land until West Valley RE approached Glendale's economic development group about building a BMW dealership. The $30 million dealership will be the second luxury-car dealership in Glendale, with the first being a Cadillac dealership that opened on West Bell Road in 2013. Mike Pacheco, the director and real-estate manager for West Valley RE, the dealership will be a "full-service BMW" meaning it will sell new and certified pre-owned BMWs, parts and service.
